Ice damning A phenomenon that occurs when melting snow refreezes at the eaves and
  traps water from snow melting from the upper part of the roof.

ID An abbreviation for inside diameter, referring to pipe measurements.

Ignition electrodes On an oil burner, a pair of electrical elements located in the blast tube
  to provide a spark that ignites the oil. incorporates vertical webbing into its configuration.

Induced draft fan A fan that pulls combustion byproducts through a furnace or boiler,
  ensuring good draft and reducing heat loss.

Insulator A material that offers a high resistance to an electric current flowing through it.

Interlayment Roofing felt installed between courses of wood shakes.

Intermittent pilot A pilot which lights only on a call for heat.
